Botulinum toxin for chronic migraine
For chronic migraine, botulinum toxin can be used preventively to reduce how often and how severely headache days occur.

Why patients come to me
Your concern
You have headaches on 15 or more days a month, several of them with migraine features. Other preventive medication hasn't helped enough or wasn't tolerated.
The treatment
Following a standardised protocol, botulinum toxin is injected at defined points on the forehead, temples, back of the head, neck and shoulders. The treatment is usually repeated every 12 weeks.
Possible result
The number of headache days and their intensity can decrease. Whether it works for you can usually only be judged after two to three treatment cycles.
Prices
Migraine treatment is priced by effort. We'll discuss the exact price in the consultation beforehand.

What happens after your appointment
Day 0
Consultation and treatment
I assess your facial expressions, we set the goal together, and I treat using very fine needles. Duration: 20 to 30 minutes. You can go straight back to your day.
After 2 to 4 weeks
The effect starts
The muscle relaxes gradually. The full result shows after about two weeks.
Day 14
Follow-up
We look at the result together. If a small adjustment is needed, it's free.
After about 3 months
Top up if you like
The body breaks the product down and the effect wears off. Whether and when you top up is your decision.

More about meWhat patients say
Excerpts from Google reviews of BTXRoom, translated from German.
“I had a Botox treatment with Mr Jeromin and I'm thrilled. The consultation was professional and empathetic, the treatment quick and painless, and the result natural, just as I wanted. Clear recommendation, I'll be back!”
“I had my first Botox treatment here and was very satisfied with the treatment and the result. It was important to me not to look unnatural afterwards. Marvin advised me perfectly and made me feel good. Thank you, I'll gladly come back 🙏”
Who the treatment is for
Botulinum toxin is approved to prevent chronic migraine in adults. A confirmed diagnosis is required, ideally after a neurological assessment. It is not intended for episodic migraine or tension headache.
Cost and reimbursement
At BTXRoom the treatment is self-pay. German statutory health insurance covers it under certain conditions, usually via neurology practices. Private insurers partly reimburse. Check with your insurer beforehand.
Headache diary
Feel free to bring a headache diary to the consultation. It helps assess your starting point and later judge whether the treatment works.
Frequently asked questions
Does it replace my other migraine medication?
Not automatically. Discuss acute medication and other measures with your neurologist or GP. Botulinum toxin is a preventive treatment.
How quickly does it work?
First changes usually show after 2 to 4 weeks. A reliable assessment is often only possible after two to three treatments.
Are there side effects?
Temporary neck discomfort, a mild headache after the injections or a slightly drooping eyelid are possible. I'll explain all risks in detail before the treatment.
What should I keep in mind after the treatment?
Stay upright for about 4 hours, don't massage the treated areas and avoid intense exercise and sauna for 24 hours.
